COME TO MACA THIS MONTH FOR A HISTORICAL PROGRAM ABOUT MENTONE

On Tuesday, August 13, at 6:30 p.m., at Diamond Jim’s Saloon (at the Mill Creek Restaurant) Tom Atchiey of Redlands will again present a slideshow; the one he presented was well attended last year. with the large room nearly full, so residents interested in our history may want to come early to get a good seat.

WATCH OUT FOR LOTS OF BICYCLISTS THIS WEEK!

The annual Redlands Bicycle Classic will be riding through Mentone and the surrounding area this week. According to the attached map and schedule of events, on Friday, PossAbilities riders will begin at 9 a.m., male riders at 10 a.m. and women riders at 11:10 a.m. in Oak Glen. Their route takes them to where Sand Canyon intersects Crafton, where they will turn right; then right again onto Colton, left on Reservoir, right on Nice, left on Amethyst, and right on Mill Creek, where they will continue to Bryant, turn right and be out of Mentone. Since the route lists “15 laps, 25.5 miles” for the PossAbilities riders, “6 laps, 90.0 miles” for the men and “4 laps, 61.8 miles” for the women, Mentonites can expect to encounter them any time of the day, and there is no finish time on the schedule. Apparently Friday’s race is the only one of five that affects any portion of Mentone; Saturday and Sunday are all in Redlands.
